Back from the western cost of the U.S.

Back from the western cost of the U.S. 2As you probable now, I signed-up last year to the very special event this year – photo workshop in the USA. Now I’m back in the Czech republic, sit down before my laptop and I am still full of emotions and experiences from this unusual trip. Originally, we’ve plan to see canyons and deserts, which is not something possible to see in my country nor in the whole Europe, but… We abandon this plan at the moment when Jiri Stransky said magical name of Oregon!

Maybe you know, maybe not, famous photos from Marc Adamus. If not, checked his gallery later on. Sure, pure technically his images are composites from several exposures, some better, some worse, but who take care at the first moment? They are simple unforgettable. So we wanted to see places as Oneonta gorge, Ruby beach, Thor well etc. see for ourselves.

We had plan to go western coast in Oregon and Washington States on the edge of October and November, so we were aware of big possibilities for raining here. The closer was the date of departure, the weather forecast was the same: it is raining, it is raining, it is raining. But there was smaller, but still such probability of better weather on the second week.

So we made small change in our schedule and we headed from San Francisco to the Yosemite National Park where I saw wild wolf 20meters from me. I never forget his sight and eyes. After that we continued over lakes in Nevada and snowy Crater Lake to the coast, where we have unbelievable fortune for the Thor well, however because the probability of the rain was close to 100%, we moved again to Columbia river for visiting several creaks and waterfalls – Elowah, Punch bowle and Wahclella to name some places. We also try to shoot Mt.Hood within Reflection lake, however we were unlucky because of the low clouds hidden volcano from our eyes.

We ended our mission on the edge of Pacific Ocean in the Washington State. We have a chance to spend one morning and evening around Ruby beach, and we slept in the cold stream channels of Hoh river where fishermen woke up us to the beautiful misty morning. We visited scary Olympic forest (guess where the most of Hollywood’s thrillers were made), but the highlight was our journey to Shi-Shi beach hidden inside Indian Reservation near the border with Canada. The introductory photo was taken here, nice evening, isn’t it? Last day, on the way back to the airport in Seattle we tried our luck with volcanos again, but the trip to Mt. Rainier finished unsuccesfully – low clouds again.

In the end, we have no photos of volcanos (it is a our challenge for return), but you can look forward to lots of pictures taken in the mountains, cost, rivers, around waterfalls and with startrails. The photos of startrails over Golden Bridge and waves on the Ruby beach inside this blog post – originally published on 500px site – are my warmhearted invitation for the another visit.  See you soon.
